Spire Travel Nurse Stories Vol. 1 - Binky Wise

Working with travelers throughout the healthcare field brings in quite a few stories — Travel Nurses who have found their career sweet spot in a different part of the country, new and exciting adventures, stories of being closer to family, and many more.

Then there are other stories like Geraldine’s. To all of us at Spire, she’s known as Binky — Binky Wise. She has been an Emergency Room Nurse for 14 years and, for the past year, has been on assignment in Shiprock, New Mexico at the Northern Navajo Medical Center. This particular assignment was originally a 13-week assignment back in November of 2021. That turned into her staying through May of this year, and now she’s contracted through November of this year. A full year in the same place.

This is the type of assignment that we love to hear about from the incredible Travel Nurses we work with. A story where someone establishes a deep connection with the work they are doing. Their patients need them. The other nurses and staff depend on them. Here’s a short video from Binky — exploring the surrounding area.

Making her way to Shiprock, NM comes with plenty of perks, too. Multiple National Parks, trails to explore, beautiful lakes, and more. Just look at how stunning the landscape is.

Finding the right role for a Travel Nurse doesn’t always make a great story, but Binky’s is what we hope to hear about every day. We’re grateful we’ve had more of these experiences lately and we can only hope to make this the norm.
